When I first wrote The Samogon Affair as a standalone, I was fortunate to have received great feedback from early readers who don’t normally read my kind of crime thrillers. Nevertheless, they took a chance on a new author outside their genre and liked what they read.
Here are excerpts from their early feedback. Maybe they’ll convince you to take a chance on me as well.
5 Stars. A fast-paced exciting story. It was a great plot, lots of twists and turns, and well developed gritty characters. It is a well written story based on true events. The author creates great atmosphere, fast pace, and tension as required. I could almost picture the farm from the author’s descriptions and dialog. The author has a great storytelling style that pulls you in and just at the right moment leaves you wanting more, but that’s ok, there is still more to come. The descriptions are vivid, the dialog gritty, and characters and plot very imaginative. I really enjoyed the court scenes and the tense atmosphere created by the author. I felt I was in the back of the courtroom. A recommended read if you enjoy a quick, roller-coaster, will they won’t they, edge of the seat story. –Barbara Goldie, Kindle Book Review
4 Stars. Action packed, fast paced. This is an interesting book, and a good read. This book looks into the world of moonshine, greed, and the mob. I could not put this book down which says a lot since this is not the type of novel I would normally read, but I enjoyed it. The only reason that I gave it 4 stars opposed to 5 stars is the fact that so many people get involved in the story it starts to get confusing, other than that it is a 5 star story. Great ending, leaving no questions of the readers when the book is finished. For those of you who love this type of novel, you will not be disappointed. For those of you who are reading this type of novel for the first time like I am, you will enjoy what you read. I would recommend this book to all who enjoy this type of novel and to those who think they may want to check this type of novel out. –Heather Austin, Kindle Book Review
5 Stars. Yes! 5 stars in the house! This book was so exciting. Action pact. The author brought something new to urban fiction. This was my first time reading the author’s work. This book really held my attention. This isn’t your ordinary read. I was concerned about how the author was going to pull off selling moonshine. He took this storyline and had me believing every word he put on paper. Bring your popcorn and pick sides. The murder game just raised the stakes. I will recommend this book especially if you get tired of the same old thing. –Founder of Sisters into Reading
4 Stars. Based on a true story, this is a believable account of what happened when a young woman got involved in a bootlegging fiasco. The book is highly readable and engaging. –AtlantaGal, Amazon Reviewer
